- Prepare 1/4 cup yellow moong dal
- You need 1/4 cup tur dal
- Prepare 1/2 cup rice/chawal
- Take 2 cup mix vegetables (cauliflower florets, brinjal, potatoes, french beans, green peas, carrot)
- Provide 1/2 cup onions chopped
- Provide 1 tbsp ghee
- Take 2 whole red chilli
- You need 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- Provide Pinch hing /asafoetida
- Prepare 2 cloves
- Take 1 bay leaf
- Prepare 6-8 black pepper/ kali mirch
- Get 1" stick dalchini/cinnamon
- You need 6-8 curry leaves
- Get 2 slit green chillies
- Prepare 2tbsp garlic finely chopped
- Use 1/2 tsp haldi / turmeric powder
- You need 1 tsp chilli powder
- Prepare 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- Use 1 tbsp coriander powder
- You need to taste Salt
- Take as needed For serving:- kadhi, pickle, salad and papad
Instructions to make Kathiyavadi Ram Khichdi:
- Clean wash and soak dals and rice for 15 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
- Meanwhile heat the ghee in pressure cooker and add the cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon and bay leaf, dry red chilli, kali mirch.
- When the cumin seeds crackle add curry leaves, green chilli and hing.
- Add onions, garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add all the chopped vegetable and all spice powder and saute for on a medium flame for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the rice and dals and salt and saute on a medium flame for another 2 minutes.
- Add 4 cups of hot water, mix well and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistle.
- Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid and mix well.
- Serve hot with kadhi, papad, salad and pickle
